Referrers

At myPhysio we take a multidisciplinary approach to the care of our patients. When you refer a patient to us, we will write or call to inform you of our assessment findings, treatment approach and the patient's progress. If our assessment reveals health concerns which warrant further investigation, we will contact you directly. We will also initiate referral to other health professionals if a patient's presentation warrants other multidisciplinary care.

We take an evidence based approach to treatment, with reference to the model of evidence based practice as presented by Sackett (1996). Professional development is important to us and we make every effort to stay at the forefront of our fields. Patients you refer to us will benefit from the latest approaches to assessment and treatment.

Rebekah is trained in the fitting of pessaries for prolapse as well as in the prescription of individualised pelvic floor exercises and provision of appropriate lifestyle advice.

Exercise Classes

At myPhysio we encourage our patients to engage in physical activity to optimise their health according to world health organisation guidelines. We offer closely supervised, individualised exercise classes based on the scientific principles of high intensity interval training. Participants exercise in a small group circuit-class, completing exercises specifically designed to meet their individual goals. Regular assessments are scheduled to monitor the achievement of health and fitness goals.

If you have patients who need to increase their physical activity to improve their health but have difficulty finding exercise options to suit them, please refer them to our exercise classes with assurance that we will prescribe a program specific to their needs no matter what their age or fitness level. Our classes are ideal for diabetics and patients with high blood pressure for whom lifestyle change is likely to improve their condition.

At myPhsyio we also encourage women to exercise safely during their pregnancy and in the postnatal recovery period. In particular, with growing international evidence of the importance of protecting the pelvic floor for long term pelvic health, carefully constructed and individualised pelvic floor exercises are included in our exercise programs. We also include discussion and education on pertinent topics relevant to pregnant women and new mothers during our classes and encourage women to bring their babies with them to classes if they would like to.
